The dishwasher (Whirlpool) will not stay running. I push the door in and it starts to run, but then stops... I suspect it is the locking mechanism - needs to be adjusted or replaced. Thanks

My dishwasher smells like burning rubber during certain cycles while running. There is nothing sitting on the heating element. The dishwasher is about 6 years old.
